Sunday School

Sunday School classes at First Presbyterian follow the School calendar. We offer classes for 4 year old through adults. Children through fifth grade meet downstairs during the 9:30 a.m. service following the Children’s sermon; middle school and high school students meet in the Lighthouse. Adult classes are offered throughout the year at times determined to fit the schedule of the leader offering the class.

During the times that Sunday School is not meeting, Children’s Church is offered for children through third grade.

Here are the programs we offer:

Infant–3 year olds Program

This wonderful class is located in the nursery downstairs. We use a simple curriculum that teaches through the use of stories, song, and plays the important message of how much Jesus loves us all. Melissa is our Nursery Coordinator and Teacher. She offers a stability and warmth for our littlest church members. Nursery is available during the 8:30 a.m. service and the 10 a.m. service.

4 year olds & Kindergarten Program

This class is located downstairs in Sunday School room 4. This is a wonderful program designed for those transitional years between leaving the nursery and heading for older classes. They have a lot of fun on Sunday mornings. This class is held during the 10 a.m. worship service. Mrs. Wheeler is the teacher this year and she comes to us with many years of experience.

1^st–5^th grade Program

There are two wonderful classes for these two age groups. The 1st–3rd grade class meets downstairs in class room 2. We are using a brand new curriculum this year, BUZZ. The kids seem to love this interactive Bible based program. We have a dedicated group of ladies that rotate monthly in the teacher and helper positions.The second group, 4th–5th graders, meets downstairs in room 3. This class is lead by Mrs. Mandeville. She has creatively combined two wonderful curriculums, BUZZ and HANDS ON BIBLE. This class is much more in-depth, taking children a little deeper into the Bible, and their walk with God. 4^th and 5^th graders.

6^th–12^th grade Program

This program is conducted in the newly reconstructed Lighthouse across the street. Please see Lighthouse Youth Ministry for more details.

There is a wonderful coffee time between services (9:30 – 10 a.m.). Adults can enjoy coffee and a treat in the Fellowship Hall. Children are welcome to head downstairs to their classrooms for treats and some fun before their classes start. Lighthouse kids also have their own snacks during this time.

Parenting Class

This class for parents is conducted in the Fellowship Hall, across from the Sanctuary, during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Topical Sunday School Classes

These classes take place in the Fellowship Hall, across from the Sanctuary, during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Past Topics Have included:
September 26 – October 10: a class led by Paul Welch entitled, American Artists – Art in the Church
October 24 – December 19: Stan Holzhauer will lead a class on Reformation and Reform Theology.
In January: John West taught a class on Grace.

Nursery

Our capable staff cares for our little ones during the service. The nursery is located on the lower level. Nursery Information

Library

Our church library now has more than 2,200 books in support of Christian Education. There are books (fiction, non-fiction and reference), videos, DVDs, magazines and Christian music CDs for all age groups. If you would like an item added to the collection, please fill out the request form available in the library. Come in and see what we have for you!
